The decision to have total joint replacement

There may come a time when your knee or hip pain reduces the quality of your life. Everyday activities, such as walking, shopping, or housework can become difficult or unbearable. Taking part in favorite hobbies such as golf or bowling may be a thing of the past because conservative measures like diet, exercise and medication no longer provide pain relief. If this describes your situation, it may be time to consider joint replacement.

The process

We believe the key to better outcomes is a commitment to provide you with a thorough understanding and knowledge of what to expect throughout the joint replacement process. Knowing what to expect each step of the way goes a long way to reducing stress and anxiety and preparing you for as smooth a recovery as possible. The information you receive prior to your surgery includes an informative pre-operative class for patients and family members and a Patient Guidebook detailing frequently asked questions and daily living procedures to aid in the pre and postoperative phases. We work with you and your coach – a family member or trusted friend who receives training and information to support you during post-surgical recovery. Our popular inpatient rehabilitation class, offered the day after surgery in a group setting, involves patients, coaches, and therapists, and provides valuable instruction and camaraderie with others.
