Sports Medicine

Being healthy means being active. But being active can mean an occasional bump, bruise or injury. Our sports medicine team of experienced doctors, athletic trainers and physical therapists are dedicated to getting you back on the running trail, the bike path or the playing field.

Our Sports Medicine Services Include Physicial Therapy - treatment by physical methods such as modalities, education, and exercise rather than by drugs or surgery.

Concussion Management

Symptom monitoring, assessment and treatment programs.

Sports Massage

Bodywork geared toward athletes used to help prevent injuries, prepare the body for athletic activity and maintain optimal condition, and to help athletes recover from workouts and injuries.

Post-Rehab Personal Training

Community Support

In addition to treatment, our athletic trainers work with students, coaches and parents to focus on injury prevention, conditioning and age-appropriate activities, providing support to all our local school districts at their sporting events.

We also provide medical support to athletes at all of Door County's major outdoor sporting events, including the Door County Half Marathon, the Door County Triathlon, the Run for Crossroads, and many more.

What do you need to know about Sports Medicine?

No athlete, professional or weekend warrior, likes to be told that they have an injury that requires time off. The beautiful thing about seeing a medical team that specializes in sports medicine, like ours, is that they immerse themselves in the most up-to-date treatments of common athletic injuries to keep athletes active and participating in their sports.

Sports medicine clinicians do not want to take athletes from their activities; instead, they focus on using a team approach to treating and healing an injury while maintaining as normal an activity level as possible.

Here are a few tips to getting the most out of your sports medicine treatment:

  • Don't be afraid to see a sports medicine clinician - they will not hold you from activity unless absolutely necessary.
  • Don't expect a magic fix - most treatments require some effort and time.
  • Give the recommended treatment time to work - most treatments require at least two weeks for full results to be seen.
  • Schedule a follow up if the problem persists - don't give up if initial treatment doesn't work. This does not mean that your problem cannot be resolved, it just means a new course of treatment may be needed.
