Door County Medical Center (DCMC) continues to integrate technological advancements made in the medical industry with the launch of the DCMC Virtual Care telemedicine platform.
Chief Clinical Officer Jodi Hibbard said, “We need to be able to connect with our patients when and how they need. This is one step in that direction and we will look to continue to grow platforms that allow for that. Patients expectations are higher now more than ever and with the Delta variant of COVID-19 making a resurgence, it is great to be able to offer a virtual visit. This allows the patient to connect with us, on their time, from anywhere they want within the state of Wisconsin.”
Telemedicine refers to using technology to communicate with a medical provider without having to be in the same room. DCMC’s Virtual Care, leveraging a platform referred to as ZipnosisTM, provides patients with easier, more convenient access to quality care, regardless of time or location.
“A priority of DCMC is to leverage technology to interact seamlessly with our communities. We are excited to launch DCMC virtual care as it allows patients to receive their care where it is most convenient to them,” adds Erick Schrier, DCMC Chief Information Officer.
Anyone can connect with a DCMC provider virtually, seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. with no need to call to make an appointment, or take time to drive to the clinic and wait to be seen. Patients receive the same quality care expected at DCMC but at a more convenient time and place.
The following is a list of concerns that can be addressed via DCMC Virtual Care:
- UTI
- Rash
- Bug Bite
- Low back pain
- Muscle strain
- Uncomplicated zoster
- Conjunctivitis
- Tooth pain
- URI/Cough
- Gout
How it works:
- Log on to www.dcmedical.org and click “Virtual Care”. Answer a series of questions, many of which are the same questions that would be asked at a regular clinic appointment.
- Interact with a local, DCMC provider within the hour, through an online intelligent interview or video, if the Clinician requires more information.
- Patients answer the questions on their own time. A DCMC provider reviews the answers, and then provides a diagnosis and treatment plan. If a patient needs a prescription, they can select the pharmacy of your choice.
