2023 Jody Boes Scholarship: Door County Medical Center Announces Three Recipients

Door County Medical Center (DCMC) is proud to announce it has named three recipients for the 2023 Jody Boes Scholarship. The Jody Boes Scholarship was established with the goal of providing financial support to nurses pursuing advanced degrees at either the Masters or Doctorate level. This year, each recipient will receive $10,000 to put toward their education.

The DCMC Auxiliary is accepting applications for 2023 healthcare scholarships. Eligible recipients are Door County and Algoma high school graduates pursuing healthcare careers, prior graduates who are enrolled in healthcare-related programs and DCMC employees continuing their healthcare education.

Jody Boes Scholarship 2023: Supporting Continuing Education for DCMC’s Nurses

In 2017, Bill and Pam Welter established the Jody Boes Scholarship in partnership with Jody Boes, former Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President of Patient Care Administration at Door County Medical Center. Designed to financially support nurses pursuing an advanced degree at either the master’s or doctorate level, the Jody Boes Scholarship has previously provided scholarship recipients with $2,500 to apply toward their tuition. This year, the monetary award scholarship recipients will receive has been raised to $10,000.

Angel Ball Moves to October 8

The Angel Ball—traditionally held in December—has moved this year to Friday, Oct. 8, at Stone Harbor Resort in Sturgeon Bay. Since 1956, The Angel Ball has been the major fundraiser for healthcare scholarships awarded by the Door County Medical Center Auxiliary.

The Door County Medical Center Auxiliary Needs your Help

The Angel Ball, hosted each December by the Auxiliary, is one of the two signature fund-raising events the Auxiliary holds each year.  “Unfortunately, we had to cancel this year’s Angel Ball due to our concerns for the health and welfare of the community during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Cheryl Wederquist, Auxiliary President Elect.
