Door County Medical Center (DCMC) is proud to support the 'Celebrate Community' concert featuring internationally recognized musicians Corky Siegel & Lynne Jordan. The event will take place at Kress Pavilion in Egg Harbor on February 14, 7-9 pm. All proceeds will benefit The Community's Garden (TCG).
The mission of TCG is to showcase the connection between a community's well-being and nature. "The garden is a laboratory for learning," says Carmen Schroeder, a Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist at DCMC and TCG board member, "it provides access to gardening, a place for healing and camaraderie, and a way for the community to work together to be good stewards of our land."
Located on DCMC's campus at 16th Place in Sturgeon Bay, TCG is a 501c3 organization that leases the garden space from the hospital for $1 a year. The 20' X 20' plots are rented to individuals for $40 each year. There is a 50% reduction on the rental fee for families who receive SNAP benefits through FoodShare, WI.
Corky Siegel is known internationally as one of the world's great blues harmonica players and is a celebrated composer, blues pianist, singer, songwriter, bandleader, and author. He shares the stage with equally talented Chicago Jazz Diva Lynne Jordan.
"To have such high-profile musicians perform in support of The Community's Garden is incredibly generous." says DCMC Chief Business Development Officer Kevin Grohskopf, who is also a founding member of TCG.
Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the door; reservations are strongly recommended. To reserve tickets, please call 920-493-5979.
