Leaders at Door County Medical Center (DCMC) have signed a contract to implement Epic as their new electronic health record (EHR) system.
Epic is the most widely used EHR system in the United States and is consistently rated as the best for both hospital-based and practice-based settings in terms of physician productivity and effectiveness.
Epic will replace DCMC's current EHR system, Meditech, enabling clinicians to coordinate care with specialists outside of DCMC more efficiently. Additionally, Epic will allow patients to access their medical records from multiple healthcare facilities through the MyChart application, enhancing their ability to manage their health. This integration with other area healthcare facilities is expected to streamline communication among clinicians, enhancing patient care and satisfaction. Notably, Epic is used by providers who care for approximately 72% of the U.S. population.
This investment in Epic represents the largest technology investment that Door County Medical Center has made in over 80 years of existence. Implementing Epic aims to provide physicians and nurses with the tools needed to improve quality, experience, and efficiency within our communities.
The transition process has begun, with the new system expected to go live on February 7th, 2026.
