Our peninsula is a small rural community—yet the health care provided by Door County Medical Center is world class.
Door County Medical Center (DCMC) has consistently been named one of the top 100 Critical Access Hospitals in the United States. With our community’s ongoing and generous support, Door County Medical Center Foundation plays a part in this success by helping to fund the health care facilities and programs that serve our community.
Since its inception in 1990, DCMC Foundation has raised over $30 million for DCMC, in turn helping to create new programs, provide healthcare related scholarships, update technology, construct new state-of-the-art facilities and provide hospital wide volunteer opportunities.
Where We Serve
DCMC Foundation supports mission driven programs and capital campaigns that do not necessarily make money for the hospital. “Our mission aligns with the hospital’s commitment to improving the health of all in our community, especially for the poor and the most vulnerable,” says Mike Herlache, Executive Director of the DCMC Foundation.
Mission driven programs supported by DCMC Foundation include The Ministry Fund, the Pete and Jelaine Horton Skilled Nursing Facility and Hospice Care Capital Campaign, David Spude Cancer Center Fund and Memory Care.
How You Can Help
In addition to supporting mission driven programming, individual gifts may be earmarked in whatever form a person wishes. “You can give in-kind donations such as artwork or you can give to a specific piece of equipment or department,” explains Herlache. “There are endowment funds and the option to give stock as well. You can also volunteer through the DCMC Foundation Auxiliary, which puts on public fundraisers like the annual House and Garden Walk.”
DCMC Foundation receives a yearly average of around 2500 individual donations which come in a variety of amounts. Herlache emphasizes that it is significant to have any level of support.
“I firmly believe in recognizing every dollar that’s brought in. That one dollar donation could be as high a percentage of someone’s income as a 2 million dollar gift.”
“If you want to make certain that DCMC continues to provide world class care for all members of our community, please consider DCMC Foundation in your seasonal gift giving. We are lucky to have very generous donors to help us further the mission of caring for all that need it, but especially the poor and vulnerable” says Herlache.
