Door County Medical Center (DCMC) has been awarded Wisconsin Rural Schools Alliance (WiRSA) 2019 Rural Community Partner Award. WiRSA Board of Directors have established this award to recognize community partners who have made significant contributions to their rural school district.
DCMC was nominated by Southern Door Schools Superintendent Patricia Vickman, with input from other local superintendents. Vickman notes that DCMC is the sole provider of school nursing, athletic training, and occupational & physical therapy services to Door County schools.
“DCMC’s partnership provides us with high quality, economical, student-based services to all of our county schools. This partnership has existed for over 30 years, and always ensures us, as districts, that we have the latest expertise and best practice in education when it comes to these specialized medical-related services for our students.”
DCMC also provides access to a free dental clinic and to customary career exploration opportunities such as tours, speakers, and sponsorship of wellness events.
“I personally believe that great schools and an excellent medical center are among the pillars of vibrant communities,” says DCMC CEO Brian Stephens. “We are honored to receive this recognition and are blessed by the relationships we have with the local school districts to help us identify and address the healthcare needs of children and youth in Door County.”
