In 1999, Door County Medical Center (DCMC) became a Catholic healthcare organization dedicated to continuing the healing ministry of Jesus Christ, with a special focus on serving those in need. As CEO Brian Stephens emphasizes, this mission remains at the core of DCMC’s work 25 years later. Today, the organization continues to promote the health and well-being of all people, particularly the most vulnerable members of our community.
The Mission & Values Team, consisting of 11 members from various departments across DCMC, including one non-hospital-affiliated community member and clergy, ensures that DCMC’s Catholic identity is woven into every aspect of the organization. This team also organizes the Ministry Fund Online Auction during Mission and Values Week. The DCMC Ministry Fund provides crucial financial assistance to community members in times of crisis. More than $1 million has been donated to support essentials such as shelter, utilities, food, and medical care.
As part of its mission to recognize excellence, the DCMC Mission & Values Team presents the “Living Our Values” Award each year. This award honors employees who embody one of DCMC’s four core values:
- Service—we make intentional decisions to benefit our patients, community, and each other.
- Vision—we use innovation and expertise to improve the health of the communities we serve and sustain and grow our healthcare ministry.
- Compassion—We genuinely care about people’s needs and treat everyone like the family, friends, and neighbors they are. This sets us apart from other healthcare organizations.
- Excellence—We are engaged to deliver the best outcomes in quality, service, finance, culture, and growth.
We are excited to announce the 2024 “Living Our Values” Award recipients! These individuals were nominated by their colleagues for their outstanding work and for embodying DCMC’s mission and values.
