Here at Door County Medical Center (DCMC), we are delighted to introduce Cynthia LaLuzerne, the newest member of our dedicated team of healthcare professionals. Cynthia is a board-certified family nurse practitioner who brings a wealth of experience and a passion for providing exceptional patient care.
Cynthia's deep-rooted interest in healthcare originated from her love of science and innate desire to positively impact her patients' lives. Her educational path has been extensive, starting at the University of Wisconsin in Green Bay, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Public Administration, to Bellin College in Green Bay, where she acquired both a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing. She has gained valuable experience in public health and oncology throughout her career as a registered nurse. She has played a crucial role on the frontlines during the pandemic, conducting COVID investigations and educating fellow nurses on pharmacology in public health. As a nurse practitioner, Cynthia has held roles in an employer clinic for a school district, worked in a walk-in clinic, and an ENT (ears, nose, and throat) specialty clinic.
Reflecting on her career, Cynthia shared her passion, stating, "My strong desire to help patients live life to their healthiest potential led me to pursue a career in healthcare. I see myself as an educator and a coach who provides patients with resources to achieve a healthy and happy lifestyle, focusing on disease prevention and health promotion."
Cynthia's approach is centered on empowering her patients and making them feel valued and heard. Her dedication to healthcare extends to various areas, from public health and infectious diseases to integrative medicine and disease prevention. "I have received specialized training in otolaryngology," shares Cynthia. "I hope to be a first stop for patients with ENT-related concerns and connect them with further ENT resources as needed."
She is committed to staying updated with the latest advancements in medical practice, actively engaging with podcasts, journals, and conferences, and values collaborative relationships with peers.
Originally from Howard/Suamico, Cynthia's work at the Kewaunee County Health Department and her marriage to an Algoma native have tied her closely to the community. Cynthia and her family now call Algoma home, allowing her to contribute directly to the health and well-being of the community.
Cynthia leads an active lifestyle outside of her profession. "Spending time outdoors and exercising is essential for my mental health and happiness," she emphasized. She enjoys walking on the Ahnapee trail, spending time at the beach in Algoma, and visiting the beautiful beaches and parks in Door County. In addition to her love for the outdoors, Cynthia finds joy in the kitchen. "I love sourdough baking and bake bread weekly for my family and loved ones. I also enjoy cooking and trying new recipes." Family time is also very important to Cynthia, and she often participates in community events, creating cherished memories with her husband and three daughters.
We are thrilled to welcome Cynthia to our team!
