Have Your Baby at Door County Medical Center

Offering Custom Prenatal, Labor and Birth, Postpartum, Newborn and Lactation Care

Choosing a birth center that matches your values and preferences is important. Our award-winning OB/GYN team lives in this community and our number one priority is your wellbeing. We recognize that every mother and every baby is special, which is why we tailor our services to fit your needs. We are here to make sure that you and baby remain healthy and comfortable throughout your pregnancy and childbirth, and that begins with establishing trust from day one.

Modern Amenities and Comfort Close to Home

Our Birthing Center is a complete obstetrical inpatient unit composed of four dedicated birthing suites equipped for comprehensive labor, delivery, and postpartum care of mother, baby and her family. Painted in soothing tones, and featuring beautiful artwork, comfortable furnishings and spacious bathrooms, DCMC’s Birthing Center provides outstanding amenities for mothers, babies and families. We gladly offer private tours of our facility for you and your loved ones upon request.

Giving Birth is an Educational Journey

In addition to obstetrical care, staff provides care for female medical-surgical and gynecologic patients. Parents receive education through prepared childbirth classes, baby care and feeding classes, videos, and postpartum discharge contact. Our certified lactation consultants provide personalized breastfeeding support at the birthing center and after leaving the hospital.

Prepared Childbirth

We invite all expectant mothers and their labor companions to attend our in-person birthing class. This day long course will empower you to feel confident and prepared for childbirth. We are fortunate to live in the age of technology, but nothing can replace the in-person experience of learning and asking questions from our qualified staff. Our instructors are experienced OB Registered Nurses and/or Internationally Board-Certified Lactation Consultants. Our goal is to make you comfortable and confident: there are no silly questions! Women at any stage of their pregnancy are welcome, although we recommend taking this course at the 6-8th month of pregnancy. Learn more

Breastfeeding Basics

Breastfeeding is a natural function that does not come with an instruction manual. Our expert staff is here to remove any apprehension you may be experiencing as you make the personal decision to breastfeed your newborn. At Door County Medical Center, we understand that not every mother will end up breastfeeding their child, and that’s ok! What is normal for one might be an impossibility for another. It is our hope that this class will help you understand the basics surrounding this life giving experience. We want you to plan for success! Learn more

Breastmilk Depot

Door County Medical Center’s new Milk Depot is looking for community members to donate breast milk for inpatient babies at Door County Medical Center as well as the greater NE Wisconsin region. Visit the Mothers' Milk Bank of the Western Great Lakes website to learn more.
