With the news lately of Covid-19 vaccinations working through the FDA approval process, many in our community are inquiring about the availability and if it is possible to make an appointment to receive the vaccine. At this time DCMC does not have a supply of the vaccine to distribute to our community, and is not taking Covid-19 vaccination appointments, but would like to make note of the following:
- There is a lot of unknown regarding the vaccines coming out; however the latest information indicates that healthcare workers and nursing home residents will be in the first group to receive the vaccine. This will tentatively take place December through January.
- We are hopeful that we’ll have a supply of the vaccine for the general public in February. Those over the age of 65, or those under the age 65 with chronic conditions that put them at risk for a severe case of Covid-19 will have an opportunity to receive their vaccinations before others.
These time frames are to the best of our knowledge as an organization at this time and are likely to change as we move forward. We continue to recommend everyone follow the general Covid-19 safety measures: Wear a mask, social distance, wash/sanitize hands, stay home if you aren’t feeling well, and get tested as necessary.
DCMC will notify the public when the vaccination opportunity arises and how to go about scheduling your vaccination appointment. Please stay tuned for more information as it becomes available to us. Visit our website at www.dcmedical.org.
