Infant Safe Haven at Door County Medical Center

A safe haven law, also known as a safe surrender law or a baby abandonment law, is a legal measure designed to provide a way for parents to safely relinquish their newborn infants, typically within a specific age range, to designated locations without facing criminal prosecution. Door County Medical Center has had a written safe haven policy, and has trained staff on that policy since 2002.

Telemedicine Services Expand at Door County Medical Center

Telemedicine services at Door County Medical Center (DCMC) now include TelePediatric critical care (TelePICU) and neonatal intensive care (TeleNICU), which allows physicians  at Door County Medical Center to access pediatric subspecialists with audio and video capability through their hospital partners.

Door County Dad Breastfeeds Newborn at Door County Medical Center

For first-time Sturgeon Bay parents Maxamillian and April Neubauer, breastfeeding and skin-to-skin contact with their newborn were at the top of their birth plan. But on June 26, April suffered two seizures caused by pre-eclampsia and had to undergo an emergency c-section. Newborn Rosalía Lupita Valentina Neubauer came into the world and turned her parent’s birth plan on its head.
